Brockway, Charlene Gertrude – Peacefully and in the comfort of her home in St Stephen, NB, on Friday, January 29, 2021 with her husband and children at her side; Charlene Gertrude (Omar) Brockway, wife of Sidney Raymond Brockway. Born in St Stephen, NB, she is the daughter of the late Alfred Dibble and Gertrude Cecelia (Goodine) Omar.

Charlene stayed at home caring for her children in their early years and then began care giving in each of the homes of Doug and Dorothy Bentley. She later moved on to become an employee of Special Care Homes. She worked at Little Acres Nursing Home, The St Stephen Seniors Complex, Riverside Care Home and spent the last 16 years working for Troy and Diane Stafford at T&D Special Care Home. Charlene was a dedicated worker who was greatly appreciated by her employers, and she was deeply cherished by those she cared for and everyone she worked with. Charlene enjoyed quilting, knitting, coloring, making scrapbooks for her grandchildren, pickling and making different flavors of jam. Reading was a passion of hers. BOOKS, BOOKS, and more BOOKS. She especially loved reading her Bible and enjoyed early frontier fiction novels.

Charlene’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and siblings.

Grandchildren: Christopher Bartlett and Caleb Knowles; Jesse, Jacob, Benjamin, and Isaac Stafford; Danielle, Kristen and Marcus Brockway. Great grandchildren: Sawyer and Emmett Stafford-Caldwell, and Autumn and Addison Ferro. Two sisters: Geraldine (Leo) Alexander and Lynne Owens of St Stephen, NB, and Sisters-in-law, Janet Omar of St Stephen, NB; and Mary Brockway of Oakville, ON, brother - in- law James Hansen of St. Stephen, NB, several nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her childhood and life-long best friend, Phyllis Bartlett, for whom she had a special love for.

Charlene was predeceased by her only brother, James Omar and three of her five sisters: Dorothy Parks, Rosalie Hansen and Anne Budd.

The family would like to take this opportunity to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the nurses of 5A South at the Saint John Regional Hospital and Floor 1 of the Charlotte County Hospital who took special care of her during her stay; Dr. Lister and Theresa Comeau who were able to grant Charlene’s wish to go home to the care of her family; and the extra mural nurse, Theresa McLeod who helped to make her stay at home as comfortable as possible.
