Obituary of Gary Frederick Ingersoll

We are intensely saddened to announce the passing of our dear brother, Gary Frederick Ingersoll, in Vancouver, B.C. on November 8, 2024.  He was 78 years  young.  He was diagnosed mid October /24 with bone cancer and due to complications, he passed quite quickly in hospital in Vancouver with a dear friend by his side.

Gary was born August 11, 1946 on Grand Manan Island, N.B. to parents, the late Irene (French) and Frederick Ingersoll of Seal Cove.  He is survived by his brother, Christopher ( Iola) Ingersoll, their son and daughter, Michael I (Becky). and Jennifer (Troy) Noseworthy and their families all of Ottawa, Ont. Also by his sister, Claudia       ( Allison ) Monroe, her two step-daughters, Stephanie ( Wayne ) Little, & their family, & Krista (Kurt) Zwicker, and their family all of Grand Manan.  Gary will be greatly missed by his Aunt Barbara Brown of Grand Manan.  Also will be loved and remembered by many of Gary's band members in Vancouver, Maggie, Christine, Laura & Allan,& Milton and many other friends in B.C. There are many cousins and friends here on the east coast who will lovingly remember Gary as well.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Grandparents and many Aunts & Uncles whom he loved dearly.

Gary was born and raised in Seal Cove, Grand Manan and graduated in 1964.  He then left the island to pursue his career in life. After studying to be an electronic technician,he eventually joined the Air Force in the late 60's and was transferred to Kamploops, B.C. where he found a deep love for the west coast.  After a few years, he left the military and joined the staff of B.C.T.V. as an electronic technician caring for a lot of electrical components for the station. He loved his work and excelled in any kind of electrical business.  Before retirement, Gary also worked at Roland Canada working on keyboards and all electrical musical instruments, which was right up his alley.

As a teenager and in his early twenties, Gary was very musical and taught himself to play guitar and sing some of the old country songs playing along with the old record player.  It was his great passion to sing in a band and over the years he had joined a few bands but was most happy in the last several years since retirement, to belong to two different bands in Vancouver with his wonderful, close friends who enjoyed so much weekly getting together for their music jams and practicing for the next gig.  He just loved to sing and play his guitar and also self taught himself to play the keyboard as well. That was his happy place singing and enjoying his group of band members. Gary loved his family and his friends dearly and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We thank all who have sent their love and condolences during this very difficult time.

Cremation has taken place in Vancouver, no formal service will be held at this time.  A family and friends celebration will take place next summer, 2025 on Grand Manan Island to honour and remember our dear brother, Gary.  He is loved and missed beyond all words.  Farewell my dear brother.  Love you forever.
