Obituary of Virginia Ann Riseborough

Riseborough, Virginia Ann

We are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Virginia Riseborough on May 30, 2024. Born on June 1, 1946, in Elmira, NY, she was the beloved daughter of Jean Elston Petrie and George Oakley.

A proud resident of Grand Manan, NB, Virginia was a retired nurse who touched many lives with her compassion and care. She was deeply spiritual, and her hobbies included gardening, making soaps, salves, and lotions, traveling, and keeping a journal. Known for her generosity, Virginia loved to volunteer and was always willing to help others. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband, George Riseborough, of 39 years; her sister, Barbara Peck; her brothers, George Elston (and wife Allison) and Marty Elston; her sons, Michael Shutes, Randy Riseborough, and Kenny Riseborough; her daughters, Heather Morgan and Erika Price; and her thirteen cherished grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, William Shutes, and her sister, Carol Cole.

A celebration of her life was held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Immanuel Family Church (749 Rte 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 3C4).

A secondary celebration of life will take place on Thursday August 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Roseville United Methodist Church in Roseville Pennsylvania.
