My best memories of my uncle Col’ were spending time with him at his camp in Canterbury, New Brunswick. He’d make the drive from Campobello to pick my brother Adam and I up in St.Stephen, often with my cousin Chris and his dog Fagan already onboard, and continue on through to the Canterbury woods road. He’d take us swimming at Grand Lake and venture around the county in his old truck looking for wildlife and visiting family.
In the mornings he’d fill all of us kids up with pancakes, eggs and bacon and in the evenings he’d bbq for us while we watched an old movie or listened to classic rock or country on the cd player that he brought home from the army. He’d make us kids laugh by singing in such a way to encourage his dog to join in howling.
I will forever remember falling asleep to the sound of the rain dancing on the tin roof. Rest peacefully uncle Col’. I love you.
