Obituary of William A. Chandler

CHANDLER WILLIAM - On February17th, 2011, our mentor, died. William Chandler, father of much loved children, John (Judi) Patricia (Peter Silverthorne), and Stuart, and grandfather of precious grandchildren Justin and Allie. Loving and greatly loved husband of Catherine (Revie) Chandler. Born in Woodstock, NB eldest son of the late Mildred (Currie) and William Chandler. Bill moved with his family as a young boy to St. Andrews by the Sea when his love of his town began. Bill lived a good and happy life.. He was raised with his siblings Ross(Barb), John (Joanne) and Sharon(BB Chamberlain) of whom he was very proud. He is survived also by his in laws Robert Revie, Mary Anne (Gary) Griffin and Greig (Tina) Revie, his mother in law Mary Revie who thought the world of him. Also surviving him are several nieces and nephews. Bill graduated Acadia University and soon undertook a career in education at which he rose to school superintendent while still in his twenties. Upon his retirement in 1992, he was the longest serving superintendent in Canada. Bill was active in his community including Rotary Club and the Anglican Church of St Andrews. He loved activities such as skiing and ski instructing, kayaking and traveling. He was an entertainer extraordinaire. He was a man of gentle strength, love of life, and down to earth wisdom. He will be missed by many and remembered fondly. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Monday, February 21st, 2011 at All Saints Anglican Church, 77 King Street St. Andrews, NB from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. The funeral service will be held in the church that day at 2:00 pm with a reception to immediately follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in the summer. By Bill’s request, in lieu of flowers donations be made to the All Saints Anglican Church “Book of Remembrance” or to the Save the Passamaquoddy Bay/Canada.
