Obituary of Alice Mae Matthews

MATTHEWS, ALICE M - At the Campobello Lodge on Wednesday,December 29,2010; Alice Mae(Stevens) Matthews, wife of the late Medford E. Matthews. Born in Eastport Maine, USA she is the daughter of the late Henry & Etta(Myland)Stevens. When Alice first married she resided in Black’s Harbour, working side by side with her husband Medford in the fishing industry. She was well known and loved by many, always well thought of as she cared for many in so many different ways. She is survived by one daughter Catherine Breton (Arthur) of Campobello, 5 grandchildren, Carlynne Williams, Medford Fitzgerald(Holly),Dwayne Fitzgerald(Madonna) all of Campobello, Sherry Mallette(Andre)of Quebec,Jennifer London, 9 great grandchildren, Monica Bent(Troy), Raymond Brown Jr (Jessica), Melinda Fleming(Sean), Nathan Wilcox(Sharlene), Amanda Fitzgerald(Jason), Sheila Hall (Kenneth), Zona Henderson(Dexter), Naomi Brown (Mike), Mallory Gallagher(Tim), 14 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters in law Laureen Barteau of Deer Island, and Della Matthews, and one brother in law Ivan Matthews(Pat) all of Campobello, several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. Resting at Wilson’s Beach Pentecostal Church from where the service will be held on Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The interment will follow in Wilson’s Beach Cemetery, Head Harbour Road. Visitation at the church will be on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm The family would like to say thank you to all of the satff at the Campobello Lodge for the excellent care that they gave Alice while she lived there. Also thanks to Dr. Abrams for his care, whom she loved dearly. Donations to the Wilson’s Beach Cemetery Fund or to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
