Obituary of Leo Vincent Newman
NEWMAN, LEE - age 84; Leo (Lee) Vincent Newman, born at Mulhollands Point, Campobello, NB, son of the late Angus and Mary (Alexander) Newman, passed away Nov, 7th, 2010. Leo believed in community service and loved his Campobello Island home. He was a charter member of the St John Ambulance for 25 years. He served as Chairman of the Campobello Public Library Board of Trustees, served as Past Warden and Treasurer of the St. Anne’s Anglican Church, past Board Member of the Co … Op Grocery store and organized the Annual Walk for Hope campaign. Lee was a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee medal for community service. Lee worked as a school bus driver for 35 years. He loved all his passengers and would always greet them with a smile! He was the Irving Oil branch manager for 27 years. Lee was predeceased by daughter Rhonda, two brothers Wilford and John and nephew Michael Newman. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Ernestene (Porter) Newman, son Kerry and wife Susan; daughter Maureen Newman and husband Daniel Pratt; brother Wells and wife Carolyn, sisters … in - law May Newman, Bertha Newman, Irene Newman, and Alice Cline, brother … in … law Wheelock Porter and wife Brenda, five nephews, two nieces, eight grand nephews, four grand nieces, and cousins. Lee shared a very special bond with his grand niece, Jenna Kinney, and his two cousins Beverly Corey and Murray Alexander. Resting at St. Anne’s Anglican Church, Welshpool, Campobello, NB from where the visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 … 4 and 7 … 9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 11th, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the church. The interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery followed by a reception in the church hall. Donations to the St. Anne’s Anglican Church Cemetery and Building funds or donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
