Obituary of David Lyon

LYON, DAVID - At the Charlotte County Hospital, on Friday September, 9th, 2009; David Lyon husband of Maya Keily (Rai) Lyon of St. Stephen, NB. Born in Liverpool, England, he is the son of the late William George & Mabel (Jones) Lyon. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict David served as an officer in the British Royal Navy, as well as the Merchant Marines, where he met and married Maya, the love of his life , later to reside in Liverpool. The two traveled the world before settling down to raise their family which eventually became Canada as their new home. David set up his own business in St. Stephen known as Riverside Grocery which he ran for 20 years, with his wife Maya by his side. Those who knew David found him to be a personable man who would sing his way into the hearts of many. David was a family man putting his children and grandchildren first with great devotion. Surviving in addition to his wife Maya are his daughters Michelle Gallant (John) of Woodland Maine, Amanda Cogswell (Joey) of St. Stephen, NB, 4 grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Maya and Nicholas, sister Mabel Pegg (John), brother Malcolm (Juliet) all of England, sister in law Margaret Lyon of Australia, several cousins, nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his brother John. By David’s request there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers the family would certainly appreciate memorial donations to go to 2 favorite causes of Davids’ Canadian Diabetes Association and the Charlotte County Cancer Society.
