Obituary of Dominic Nichols

Nichols, Dominic (Don) (1947-2009) Don passed away on the afternoon of Aug.12, 2009. He was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, the son of Julia Surette and Dominic Nichols (both deceased). Surviving in addition to his wife Margaret (Peggy [Wetmore]) Nichols are his children; Cheryl Nichols MacLean (Jason) of Toronto, Ont, Brian ( fiancé Shawna Gullison) and Kevin (Jennifer) all of Calgary, Alberta, four grandchildren Lei’lani, Kailee, Marissa and Matthew Nichols, two sisters Sheila Nichols (Phil) of Yarmouth, NS and Mary Duffus (Jack) of Plymouth Yarmouth County, NS, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He called St.Stephen home for over 30 years. He served approximately 18 years on the Planning Advisory Committee for the Town of St. Stephen. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and the Knights of Columbus Chapter 6507, St. Stephen, serving a term as Grand Knight. An entrepreneur at heart Don owned/operated many businesses within St.Stephen and recently retired in 2007 from his successful courier business, Nichols Courier Service. One of the defining qualities of Don was that he considered himself a family man and was happiest when spending time with his children, grandchildren and loved ones. His outgoing nature, sense of humor and laughter will be missed by all. Visitations will take place on Sunday Aug.16, 2009 at Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB (506 – 466 – 3110) from 7-9pm. A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home by the Knights of Columbus. Funeral service will take place Monday Aug.17, 2009 at Holy Rosary Parish at 11am. A reception will immediately follow the mass in the church hall. The interment will take place on Wednesday, August 19th at 2pm in Port Maitland/Beaver River Cemetery, in Nova Scotia.
