Obituary of Betty Jean Oxner
Oxner, Betty Jean - Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital on Tuesday, March 31st, 2009; Betty Jean (Tompkins) Oxner, wife of Don Oxner of St. Andrews, NB. Born in Bath, NB; only child of the late Chipman & Dorothy (Thompson) Tompkins. After High School Betty Jean studied nursing at the Saint John General School of Nursing in 1953 and worked there for a brief period. She met her husband Don and married in 1955,and they have resided in St. Andrews all their lives. She has been a member of All Saints Anglican Church and the ACW. Betty Jean was also very involved in Girl Guides of Canada and was an active volunteer at the Passamaquoddy Lodge. Surviving in addition to her husband Don are her daughter, Marilyn Webber (Robin) of Upper Lakeville, NS; her son Rev. Paul Oxner (Joan) of Nashville, Tennessee, brother – in - law Frank Oxner (Marilyn) of Dartmouth, NS; 3 grandchildren, Kari Webber of Halifax, NS, Megan and Gregory Webber, both of Fredericton, NB. Betty Jean took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. " She will be always loved and missed. A memorial service in celebration of Betty Jean’s life will be held on Friday, April 3rd, 2009 at 2:00 pm at All Saints Anglican Church, King Street, St. Andrews, NB. Canon John Matheson will officiate. A reception will follow in the church hall. The interment will take place at a later date in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to All Saints Anglican Church or charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family. On line condolences and donations may be placed at www.humphreysfh.com.
