Obituary of Cecil Joseph Mealey

Mealey, Cecil J. Unexpectedly at his residence in Pocologan, NB on Friday, February, 20th, 2009; Cecil Joseph Mealey, husband of the late Florida Adelia (Gallant) Mealey. Born in Pocologan he is the son of the late Harry & Hazel (Campbell) Mealey. For over 45 years Cecil was the owner and proprietor of Mealeys Auto Body Shop in Pocologan. He was an avid outdoorsman loving long walks in the outdoors and always loved feeding the many birds and deer around his property. Every Sunday Cecil could be seen at the Stella Maris Community Hall in Blacks Harbour enjoying the old time music along with many of his friends. Those who knew Cecil knew of his great love for the guitar. Cecil is survived by his 2 daughters Claudia Babineau (Wayne) and Carolyn all of Pennfield, NB, 2 brothers Charles (Georgie) and Kenneth all of Pocologan, NB, 4 sisters, Alice McLane of Cape Cod U.S.A. Beatrice Mealey, Bessie O’Neill (Wallace) and Hazel Winters all of Pocologan, 4 grandchildren, Lisa Wilcox of Victoria B.C. Jeremy Wilcox of Trenton, Ontario, Hillary and Heather Mealey both of Pennfield, NB, several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation at Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB (506 – 466 – 3110)on Tuesday, February 24th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church, Blacks Harbour, NB on Wednesday, February 25th, 2009 at 12:00 Noon. A reception will follow in the church hall. The interment will take place in the spring in Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimers Society or to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
