Obituary of Frances Marion Miller

Miller, Frances M. – The death of Frances Marion Miller (Armstrong) wife of John P. (Jack) Miller for 58 years occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital following a lengthy illness, on Sunday, December, 28th, 2008. Frances was born on September, 27th, 1930 to the late Oscar and Mildred (Maguire) Armstrong. She spent her early years in Elmsville, then moved to Falmouth (Portland) Maine where she lived with her aunt and uncle and graduated from Falmouth High School in 1948 with a diploma in business and bookkeeping. She later moved to Saint John where she worked for several companies as a bookkeeper and met her husband Jack, who she married in 1950. In 1989, upon their retirement, Frances and Jack moved to their country home in Elmsville where she spent many happy years in her garden and kitchen. Frances was active in many community affairs. She loved to cook and gave freely of her time and energy to church suppers and community affairs and provided support to numerous charities. Frances was a member of the Christ Church in Elmsville, the Anglican Church Women (ACW), Elmsville Women’s Institute, Order of the Eastern Star, St. Stephen, Chapter #8, and the Lancaster Legion Women’s Auxiliary Branch 69, to name a few. In addition to her husband, Frances is survived by her sister Mildred Justason of Pennfield, brothers-in-law, Alan Miller, Saint John, Robert (Bob) Miller, Kingston Peninsula; nieces Ann Hoben of Saint John, Patricia (Patsy) McKinney, Rothesay, Mary Mallory, Saint John, Della Day, Saint John, nephews Edgar Johnston, St. Andrews, Leonard Maxwell, Calgary, Alberta, Oscar Maxwell, Calgary, Alberta, James (Jim) Miller, Johnston Settlement, Stephen Miller, Saint John, William (Bill) Miller, Kingston Peninsula, Leonard Miller, Saint John. Frances was predeceased by two brothers Warren Armstrong and Watson Armstrong; two sisters, Margaret Maxwell and Mae Johnston. The family will receive visitors at Humphrey’s Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, (506 – 466 – 3110) on Tuesday from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm . The funeral service will be held from Humphrey’s Chapel on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the spring in Lower Elmsville Historic Cemetery. Reception will follow in the Humphreys Community Room and Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Diabetes Association, Christ Church, Elmsville or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
