Obituary of William Melbourne Newman

William Melbourne (Bud) passed away unexpectedly at his home,on Campobello Island,NB on Thursday, December 18,2008 at the age of 83 years. Bud was born on April 15, 1925 to the late Clarence and Flora Newman. He was a life long resident of Campobello where in the early years worked as a fisherman and Burma propane. For 23 years he worked as a school bus driver until his retirement in 1990. Bud is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bernadette (Babin), his children Betty Ann (Garry) Rideout of St Stephen, NB, Janis (Norman)Brown of Miramichi, N:B and Stephen (Sue) Newman of Campobello. He was a very special grandfather to grandchildren Bryan (Jody),Bradley, Monica (Dave), April (Gilles), Melissa (Shaun), Matthew ,Julie(Paul),Jacob, Jessa and great grandchildren Justan, Christopher, Brayden, Brodie, and Ashlyn. Also survived by two sisters, Norma Matthews of Georgia, USA and Marilyn Wry of Bolivia, SA. Besides his parents he is predeceased by 1 brother, several aunts, uncles and cousins and special friend Brandon. Resting at Wilsons Beach United Baptist Church, Wilsons Beach, Campobello, NB from where the service will be held on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Robert Weaver officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. The interment will take place in the spring in Head Harbour Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at a time of visitation at the church on Monday, December 22nd, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm.
