Obituary of Clayton Raye Matthews
MATTHEWS CLAYTON R. Sr. - Passed away peacefully, on Saturday,March 29th, 2008; at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Lubec, Maine he was the son of the late Harold & Mona (Harvey) Matthews. Surviving in addition to his wife Mary Irene (Blanchard) Matthews are his six children, Lisa Beam (Gary), Paul Matthews, Peter Matthews (Beverly), Gail Robertson (James), Clayton R. Matthews Jr. (Jeannette) and Darlene Matthews (Edward), 12 grandchildren, Jason, Angie, Dylan, Jackie, Sean, Shawna, Amber, Dwayne, Allison, Jordan, Ashley and John, one brother Harvey (Eloise), several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters. Clayton served 4 years in the US Navy where he trained as a mechanic and was stationed in Corpis Christi, Texas. He moved to Canada and was employed for over 20 years with the Herring Cove Provincial Golf Course in Campobello. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for many years. By Clayton’s request there will be no visitation, however friends are welcomed to attend a graveside service to be held on Wednesday April, 2nd, 2008 at 4:00 pm at Head Harbour Cemetery, Campobello, NB.
