Obituary of Jewel Jean Calder
CALDER, JEWEL J. – At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on Friday, March 21st, 2008; Jewel Jean(Matthews)Calder, wife of the late Reginald Calder of Welshpool, NB. Born in Campobello, NB she was the daughter of the late Clarence & Aggie (Dow) Matthews. For a number of years Jewel worked at the Roosevelt International Park Commission as a Tour Guide until her retirement. She was a member of North Road Baptist Church serving on various committees and was an avid quilter. She is survived by her two daughters Karen Miner (Wayne) of Bartletts Mills,NB Susan Calder, of Campobello, NB, two brothers Burris and Ivan, both of Campobello,NB two sisters Della Matthews of Wilsons Beach,NB, Lorrine Barteau of Deer Island,NB, 4 grandchildren Pamela Taylor, Angela Doody, Dwayne Miner, Toni Swan, 9 great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Reginald Jr. 1 brother Medford, 3 sisters Royis Calder, Phyllis Babcock, Elizabeth Jackson. There will be no visitation however friends are welcomed to attend a funeral service to be held at North Road Baptist Church, Campobello, on Monday, March 24th, 2008 at 12:00 noon. The interment will take place in North Road Baptist Cemetery followed by a reception at the church hall. Donations to the NB Autism Society, NB Neart & Stroke Foundation or charity of the donors’ choice would be apreciated by the family.
