Obituary of Phyllis Leona Babcock
BABCOCK, PHYLLIS L. … At the Charlotte County Hospital, on Thursday, December, 27th, 2007; Phyllis Leona (Matthews) Babcock; wife of the late Arthur Babcock of Wilsons Beach, Campobello, NB. Born in Wilsons’ Beach, NB she is the daughter of the late Clarence & Aggie (Dow) Matthews. Phyllis was a member of Wilsons’ Beach United Baptist Church. Phyllis and her late husband operated the Ponderosa Motel and Restaurant for many years, well known as a favorite landmark. She also worked at the Roosevelt International Park Commission. She enjoyed hobbies such as quilting. She is survived by her son Roger of Wilsons’ Beach, 3 sisters Lorene Barteau of Deer Island, Della Matthews (Lester) of Wilsons Beach, Jewel Calder of Welshpool, NB , two brothers Burris Matthews (Norma) and Ivan Matthews (Pat), all of Wilsons’ Beach, many nieces and nephews, sister in law Alice, brother in law Maxwell Calder. She was predeceased by brothers Medford, sisters Royis Calder, Elizabeth Jackson, brothers in law Robert Jackson, Reginald Calder, and Arthur Barteau. Resting at Wilsons’ Beach United Baptist Church, Campobello, NB from where the service will be held on Saturday, December, 29th, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. The interment will take place in Old Wilsons’ Beach Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday evening only from 7 … 9 pm.
