Obituary of Brian Edmund Westrup
The death of Brian E. Westrup beloved husband of Geraldine (Mitchell) Westrup went to meet his Lord and Savior at the Campobello Lodge Nursing Home on April 5, 2007. He was the son of the late Rev. Harold and Susie Mae Westrup. Brian spent his childhood in Pennfield, NB where his father was pastor of the Pennfield Baptist Church. His teen years were spent in Saint John where his father was pastor of the Waterloo Street Baptist Church. Brian joined the Army in his late teens. He was in the service 9 years and spent a total of 4 years in Germany. He was a paratrooper with the P.P.C.L.I. Brian attended the Northwest Baptist Theological Seminary and the Vancouver Bible College. He conducted the services at a Vancouver Mission for several years. Brian was employed as a Machine operator at the Vancouver docks for 30 years. On retirement Brian and Geraldine moved to Campobello Island. Brian conducted a weekly song service and Bible study at the Campobello Lodge Nursing Home and continued this service until he was no longer able to carry on due to his Alzheimer’s disease. He also filled the pulpit at the Disciples of Christ Church in Lubec. Maine for many months when the Church was without a pastor. He had a beautiful baritone voice and sang in many different churches. Besides his wife of 51 years, he is also survived his in-law Mitchell family. Resting at North Road Baptist Church, with visiting on Monday from 7 to 9. The funeral will be held 2 pm on Tuesday from the church, with Rev. John Tremblett officiating. Interment will take place in the North Road Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the North Road Baptist Church Youth Centre, Campobello Lodge Nursing Home, Alzheimer’s Society of NB or to a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated.
