Obituary of Joyce DiPaolo
DiPaolo, Carolyn Joyce–.. We announce the passing of C. Joyce DiPaolo of St. Stephen, New Brunswick on the Monday October 24th of , 2016 . Joyce was born on December 30, 1957 in Saint John, New Brunswick, the beloved daughter of Mrs. Edwina P. Leonard and the late John G. Leonard of Rothesay, NB. Joyce graduated from UNB in 1980 with a BPE and was employed as the Recreation Director for the Town of St. Stephen from 1981-1984. She owned and operated the Early Bird Preschool from 1995-2016. Joyce with her enthusiasm exposed 423 four year olds to the joy of learning phonics, about nature, animals, the environment, their world. She prepared these children for kindergarten. Joyce met her husband of 33 years, Randy Wayne DiPaolo in St. Stephen, NB. In 1983 they married and together raised four beautiful children. Joyce is survived by her mother, Edwina P. Leonard (Ballum); her husband Randy W. DiPaolo, Q.C.; her children, Emily Jane Hartford (Douglas and her grandson Owen), Anna Louise Long (Patrick and her expectant grandbaby Long), John Russell DiPaolo (and her grandson Bentley DiPaolo-Richard) and James Edward DiPaolo; her siblings, John Eric Leonard, Kathryn Elizabeth McAllister (Robert), Andrew Charles Leonard, and Bruce Robinson Leonard (Melanie); her sisters and brothers-in-law; Gerald and Linda Caron, Kenneth and Paulette St. Germain and Anthony and Francine DiPaolo; her nephews and nieces; Craig and Lisa Hambrook, Steven and Tina Hambrook, Jason and Chantal McAllister, Andrew McAllister, Todd and Terri DiPaolo, Adam and Krista DiPaolo, as well as younger niece and nephew Olivia Leonard , aged four and John Henry Leonard aged two; grand nephews Harrison and Oliver McAllister and Nicholas DiPaolo; grand nieces, Cameron, Chloe and Amber Hambrook, Giada Emmilia and Olivia DiPaolo; by aunts and uncles: Sandra Ballum (Alfred) Arnold Ballum (Shirley), Eric Ballum (Joyce), Wilna Warren (Cooke) and Eleanor Deacon, and Jack Rouse (Vincenza) as well as numerous cousins. Joyce was predeceased by her father John G. Leonard; her father-in law and mother-in-law Russell and Frances DiPaolo; brother-in-law Hollis Hambrook; uncles and aunts, J. Melville Deacon, Reginald and Elizabeth Squibb, William and Jane Ruddock as well as, baby Jack Deacon-Bourgoyne. Joyce was a member of Christ Church, Bethany and the Friday Soup Kitchen in St. Stephen New Brunswick. Joyce cherished the outdoors and the family camp at Birney’s Lake. Her wish is simply that people be kind to each other. Joyce and her family give special thanks to our amazing doctors and nurses. Especially, Dr. Jo Anne Attard, Dr. Brian Johnson, Dr.Farah Naz, Dr. Joanna Middleton, Dr. Amanda Cassie, Dr. Anthony Reiman, and his caring nurse, Colleen Chisholm. We hold in high regard our fantastic Extra Mural program with a special blessing and thank you to Cindy Roy. Archdeacon John Matheson officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall, followed by the interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
