BURNETT, CARIENE DORIS “BILLIE” - Billie was born on June 11, 1927 in Saint Andrews, N.B. and passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2016 at the Passamaquoddy Lodge. She was a daughter of the late Everett and Florence Sampson and wife of the late Lloyd Burnett. Billie began her working career at the Bank of Nova Scotia. She moved on to Saint Andrews Biological Station where she worked as a technician until her retirement in 1989. Her job required her to spend a great deal of time on the open waters of the Bay of Fundy. Billie had a zest for life, always enjoying the many get togethers with family and friends. She had a passion for golf and any day on the course was a good day. Knitting and mastering puzzles gave her great pleasure. After recovering from a brain aneurysm in 2003 she went to live at MacLays Special Care Home in Oak Bay, N.B. Never afraid to speak her mind she had caregivers and residents laughing at her jokes. Billies’ family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregivers who treated her with dignity and respect. Their kind compassionate and loving care was greatly appreciated. This special care home was truly her home away from home. Billie is survived by her daughter Wendy (Michael) Henderson, grandson Cory (Elizabeth), beautiful great granddaughters, Sydney and Brooke, brothers Arnold (Nadine), and Edward (Joyce), nieces and nephews and special friends Madelyn Irwin and Margaret MacNichol. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her infant grandson Jody and sister Irma Thompson. Although there will be no formal visitation, family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at Humphreys Funeral Home being held on Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 at 2:00 pm. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home reception centre. The interment will follow in Saint Andrews Rural Cemetery.
