KOZAK WALTER C. – Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital on Friday, February 1st, 2013; Walter Kozak, husband of Lynn (Davis) Kozak of Chamcook, NB. Born in Matlock, Manitoba in 1942, he was the son of the late Peter & Katie (Zolondek) Kozak. Wally’s spirit of adventure and love of the sea became reality when he accepted a transfer with DFO to St Andrews. He was a passionate supporter of local fishermen, which led to a career change in 1980 to the Fundy Weir Fishermen’s Assoc. He became a weir owner himself at this time. His most enjoyable times were spent at the end of a wharf talking with the fishermen. Walter finished his working career as department head of Fisheries/Marine training at NBCC. He spent his retirement years working for Charlotte County Housing and Grand Manan Housing. His various careers had one main theme, that of helping others. He believed in giving back to the people, community and area that he so loved. Walter was a faithful, long-time member of the Liberal Party and served in local municipal politics as a councillor and deputy mayor. He served on many boards and committees, including Fundy Region Transition House, Van Horne Estate for Minister’s Island and numerous economic development agencies for Charlotte County.
