Obituary of Wayne A. Matthews

MATTHEWS WAYNE A. – Unexpectedly at the DownEast Medical Centre in Machias Maine, USA, on December 12,2012; Wayne Allen Matthews, husband of 56 years to Gloria (Malloch) Matthews of Wilson’s Beach, NB. Born in Lubec, Maine; he is the son of the late Harland Edwin & Lois Gertrude (Newman) Matthews. In earlier years Wayne worked in the fishing industry. For most of his life he worked as a groundskeeper with the Herring Cove Golf Course on Campobello Island, NB. Surviving in addition to his wife Gloria are his daughter Melanie Fitzsimmons (Kenneth),and 2 sons Edwin(Wanda)and Michael (Holly) all of Campobello, 1 sister Audrey Vennell (Vernon) also of Campobello,8 grandchildren Meghan Jackson,Jessica Hall,Nathan Matthews, Keanu Matthews, Micaela Matthews, Chance Fitzsimmons, Shayna Smart(J.D.)and Taran Matthews,7 great grandchildren,nieces,nephews and cousins. Wayne was predeceased by a grandson Brady Alden Matthews and a brother Loren “Buddy” Matthews. By Wayne’s request there will be no visitation. Cremation will take place followed by a memorial service in celebration of his life to be held at North Road Baptist Church, Welshpool, NB on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Dana Mersereau officiating.
