Obituary of Robert Mommon Mitchell

The passing of Robert Mommon Mitchell, husband of Shirley (Brown) Mitchell, occurred on May 12, 2012 at his residence on Campobello Island after a period of failing health. Born June 12, 1928, he was a son of the late John and Georgie (Harvey) Mitchell. He is also survived by two daughters, Ellen Mitchell (Stuart) and Judy Calder (Barry); grandchildren: Krista Murray, Shauna Mitchell, Jake Calder; great-grandchildren: Paige Murray, Zachary Murray, Landen Murray, Falon Jackson, and Halie Jo Jackson; sisters: Mary Lank and Katheryn Anthony; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Douglas Robert; sister, Margaret Sprague; and brothers, Melvin Mitchell and Sumner Mitchell. Robert spent his life as a fisherman on Campobello. He was a member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Wilson’s Beach Baptist Church. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who devoted his life to his family and his Lord. The family will receive friends at Wilson’s Beach Baptist Church for visiting on Monday, May 14from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 15 in the church.
