Obituary of Jason R. Small

It is with great sadness that the family of Jason Rodney Small of St. Andrews, NB announce his passing on May 15, 2020, after a lifelong battle with Chron’s Disease. Jason was born in St. Stephen on August 7, 1976, to the late Rodney Small and Carol VanTassel. He was survived by his “Papa” Clayton VanTassel, family friend Dan Young (Portland, OR) several aunts and uncles Joyce Rowe (John) of Saint John, Blair VanTassel (Kathy), Brian VanTassel (Andrea), Roger Small (Lynn), Paulette Carson (Richard), Cathy Moses all of St. Andrews, Joan Orr (Bob) of Fredericton, Great Uncle Paul (Jean) of Saint John, several cousins as well as a life time friend Chris McFarlane. He was also predeceased by his maternal Grandmother Geraldine VanTassel, both of his paternal grandparents Herbert and Nellie Small as well as his uncle Bruce VanTassel. Jason will be remembered for his huge smile, his kind heart and his positive outlook on life even on his worst days. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family. With the new announcement made as of Friday June 19 th from the Dept of Public Health, friends are welcomed to attend a graveside memorial service to be held on Thursday June 25 th at 3:30 pm. Archdeacon John Matheson will officiate. This gathering will be with unrestricted numbers, in attendance, as long as guests remember to respect the family and others gathered by observing the 2 metres (6 feet) of social distancing.
