Obituary of Raymond Paul Bishop

BISHOP RAYMOND P. - Raymond Paul Bishop, known as Ray to most, died Tuesday, February 19th, 2019, at home at the age of 73. He fought a difficult battle with pulmonary fibrosis but died peacefully at home cared for by his wife Edie. He was born March 18th, 1945 in Salmon Creek, near Chipman, New Brunswick, son of the late Charles and Helen Bishop. He married his sweetheart Edie (Hetherington) Bishop on November 20, 1965, in Codys, New Brunswick. He began a long career in banking in Saint John and Fredericton and finally settled in St. Andrews, in 1974 where he then worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia. He enjoyed the town of St. Andrews where he raised children Heather (Aaron) Cleghorn and Andrea (Shane) Audette. He participated in many community groups over the years including Kiwanis Club and the St. Andrews Chamber of Commerce. He was co … founding board member of Minister’s Island revitalization and proudly assisted in opening the island to the public. Recently he was a member of the Open Door Food Bank and an active member of St. Andrews Baptist Church. He was predeceased by siblings Cecile Bishop, Marion Perry, and Glenna Perry, and survived by Phyllis Brown of Salmon Creek and brother Vernon (Ella) Bishop of Chipman. He loved his many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and enjoyed contact with them all. Everyone noticed the special place in his heart for kids. Funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 at 2:00 pm at St. Andrews Baptist Church. Reception immediately following in the church hall.
