Obituary of Bob Grant

GRANT, BOB - Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 30th, 2018, Harry Robert “Bob” Grant, husband of Donna (Churchill) Grant of St. Andrews, NB. Born in Halifax, NS; he is the son of the late Harry James Askew & Jean Viola (Fullerton) Grant. Bob was a passionate man in all he did and to all he loved. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife 55 years Donna, his daughter Deborah Grant and her husband Jim Shortell, his son Bruce & his wife Karen of St. Andrews, NB, 3 grandchildren Kelsey Lynn Grant, Stephanie Arseneau and Nicholas Arseneau, 1 great granddaughter Malee Savoie, one brother Dr. David Grant (Ellen) of Kentville, NS, and one sister Patsy Grant MacLeod of Collingwood, ON, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob graduated from UNB Fredericton in 1969 to follow a dream of becoming a mechanical engineer. He went on to work for many years with Neil & Gunter. Being such a free spirit of life he pursued an endeavor to build his own company known as H.R. Grant & Associates. Bob was a thinker, a fixer, a problem solver, a supporter, a prankster and a master of so many trades, his hand made clocks will be cherished by his family for many years to come. Bob made time to always be helping friends and everyone has a project done by Bob.. He used to love to fly his remote control planes with his buddy Robert, although they spent more time fixing then flying. If he wasn’t fixing things, he was at the rink curling, loved to skip and was always coaching. After spending 11 years refurbishing a 68 Healy, he and Donna spent time showing it off at different car shows. Bob was so many things to so many people, he will indeed be missed by all. By Bobs’ request cremation will take place followed by a celebration of his life which will take place at the Heather Curling Club on Friday, October 5th, 2018 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. A special family tribute will be given at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Diabetic Association or the Heart and Stroke foundation either would be appreciated by the family.
