It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Augustus Brewster, peacefully on the morning of Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Charles was born on June 20, 1938, in Chamcook NB, the son of the late Dorothy Alberta Pelton Brewster and Charles Earl Brewster.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his common-law wife Ruth Sarah Markee; one brother Charles Owen Brewster; three sisters Mary Elizabeth Brewster, Grace Mae Johnson (“Buddy” Earlyn), Margaret Jean Gibson (“Jo” Jospeh), two nephews; Charles William Gibson and “Bobby” Robert Eugene Gibson and Ruth’s only son Clayton Markee.
Charles is survived by his two daughters; Lisa McCarroll (Kevin) and Karen Avery (Seth), 6 grandchildren; Matthew McCarroll, Sara McCarroll, Jason McCarroll, Shelby Perry (Murray), Lindsey Clarke, Kristen Clarke, two great-grandchildren; Katniss and Jensen McCarroll, four nieces; Linda Dow (Ossie and son Corey), Eleanor Brewster, Beverly Hanley (Tim), Fern Johnson and two nephews; Paul and Jimmy Gibson. He will be missed by Donna Tatton and family, Joanne Munn and Family, Leroy Markee and Dale Doyle.
Charles was a hard worker, wonderful father, and loving husband. He would do anything for Ruth and his two girls. Charles and Ruth worked together digging clams for a living. They also took care of the Chamcook Cemetery. Charles and Ruth were together for 54 years, until her passing in 2021. After Ruth’s passing, Charles enjoyed watching his WWE Wrestling on TV, seeing wildlife, playing dice/card/board games, and going for long daily car rides with his daughter Lisa. Charles had Alzheimer’s Disease, by the end of his life he couldn’t walk any more causing bed sores. He had good days and bad days, Lisa visited him every day when he went to the hospital then Lincourt Manor.
A special thank you to the health care providers at the Charlotte County Hospital, Extra Mural Nurses, St. John’s Ambulance, Lincourt Manor Staff and to Rev. John Matheson and family members that came to visit him.
By Charles request, there will be no visitation or service, cremation will take place and his ashes will be laid to rest next to Ruth at the St. John The Baptist Chapel of Ease Cemetery in Chamcook NB at a later date.
