Obituary of Robert Alton Morrison

We, the family of Robert Alton Morrison of St. Stephen New Brunswick regret to announce his passing on August 12, 2024, at the age of 83. Bob was born on January 12, 1941, to the late Kenneth and Sylvia (Brown) at Granite Hill New Brunswick.

Bob was employed as a supervisor with New Brunswick Power Corporation for 30 years retiring in 1996. Prior to his career as supervisor, Bob enlisted in the Airforce as a radar technician for some years. Raising his family with Margaret, in Grand Falls NB, he was then relocated to St. Stephen NB in 1987 where they lived for the last 37 years.

An avid golfer and outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed many other hobbies over the years which included spending winters in Florida, curling, cribbage and music. Bob taught himself to play the fiddle and enjoyed music sessions with many friends in the most recent years. He was a devoted brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grand father, great grand father, and friend.

Bob had a passion for fixing or repairing just about anything with remarkable intuition. A true gentleman with the sharpest mind, Bob embodied endless kindness, respect and the ability to make you feel immediately comfortable. Everyone felt welcomed at Bob and Margaret’s home. Their door was always wide open. Bob was the only person we knew who could drive a boat while catching a fish, patting Stanley on the head and eating a peanut butter sandwich all at the same time. His patience is an example to all who knew and loved him.

Bob is survived by his daughter Cyndie (Andrew) of St. John, Son Lloyd (Sandi) of Halifax, brother Arnold (Faye) of Rothesay. Grand children Katie (Matt) of St. Catherines, Corey of Hammonds Plains and Ryan (Anne) of Moncton, Great Grandson Ben, Daughter in law Sherri and friend Anita.

Bob is predeceased by his wife of 60 years Margaret (2022) and his son Dale (2010).

The family would like to thank the staff at St. John Regional Hospital for their excellence in care, including the department of palliative care, oncology and radiotherapy. As well as St. Stephen hospital emergency department staff for your kindness and care in Bob’s last hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s Memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a to local Hospice, Junior curling club, junior golf club or charity of one’s choice.

Friends and family are invited to a time of fellowship and refreshments in celebration of Bob’s Life at the Royal Canadian Legion- St. Croix Br. #9 (43 Queen St W, St Stephen, NB E3L 2K2) from 2-4PM on Saturday August 31, 2024.
