Obituary of Dierdre Jeanne Tate

Tate, Dierdre Jeanne (DeeDee)

Passed away peacefully at Grand Manan Hospital on August 9, 2024 with her husband Carl Tate and family by her side.

She was the second of four daughters born to Sheila (Green) Tate and the late Paul Blaine Tate.

Dee was diagnosed with MS while still a mom of young children. Regardless of her health she continued to work as a full-time, stay-at-home mom. She painted several special pieces of art, took care of her horse, and served as President of Island Horsemen’s Assoc.  She enjoyed gardening on warm summer days and her greatest quiet pastime was reading. DeeDee always loved to read.

Though the MS wreaked havoc on her body and finally caused her to resort to her bed the last few years, she never failed to break into a big smile whenever anyone entered her room to visit .

In addition to her husband, Carl, she is survived by her children; Douglas (Elisha), Miranda (Larry),  Lainy (Jacob), James Markee, grandchildren; Anna, Aiden, Anden, Hunter, Sophie, Marcus, Graham; her mother Sheila Tate Hornjak, grandmother Vera Green, her sisters; Sonya Tate, Victoria Foster (Glenn), Jenny Bokesch Green(Steve), mother-in-law Mildred Locke, her in laws Mervin and Brenda Tate and many nieces and nephews.

Dee was pre-deceased by her father Paul Tate.

Cremation has taken place, a Celebration of Life will be held at 1PM on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the Community Life Church in Grand Harbour (1235 NB-776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 1G2).  Pastor Karl Ingersoll officiating the service. Immediately following the service, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments and a chance to continue the celebration of Dee’s life. Please come prepared with a story of your fun encounters with Dee to tell, the mic will be open during a portion of the reception. The family looks forward to hearing the stories.
