Obituary of Hawken Frank & Margaret

 

HAWKEN  FRANK  - At the Ridgewood Veterans Wing with his family by his side, on Monday, November 25th, 2019  Frank William Hawken, husband of  Margaret  (Cody) Hawken of St. Andrews, NB. Born in London, England he is the son of the late Alfred & Dorothy Hawken.

        Frank, a veteran of World War 2 served in the British Armed Forces. After the war he emigrated to Canada in 1955.  He owned and operated a fishing lodge in Ontario from where he retired, then moving east to New Brunswick to reside in St. Andrews, NB. He was a member of the St. Andrews Royal Canadian Legion. He also served as a past president. He enjoyed fishing, ball room dancing with his dear wife, and a special love for the outdoors.

      Surviving in addition to his wife Margaret of 70 years are his 2 daughters Sandra Holdway (Roger Hoar), Barb Cody (Stephen)  all of St. Andrews, NB, 7 grandchildren  Laura Tillack, Aimee Neaverson(Tom), Emily Smith, Sarah Smith (Jordan), William, Dorothy, and Joanna,  several great grandchildren ,1 brother Dennis Hawken of Gillingham, England, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by  one brother Douglas Hawken.

HAWKEN MARGARET P. – 08-20-1931 – 12-10-2023. Margaret passed away peacefully at the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, NB. Margaret Primrose (Cody) Hawken was the wife of the late Frank Hawken. Born in Rye, Middlesex, England, she is the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Chandler) Cody.

Margaret’s greatest passion in life was caring for her husband, Frank, for 70 years.

They immigrated from England in 1955 and worked hard to build a life in Canada. Margaret loved to sew, cook, travel, and music. Her favorite pastime was taking long walks outdoors with Frank. When they were younger, they loved teaching ballroom dancing in St. Andrews.

Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Cody (Stephen) of St. Andrews NB and Sandra Holdway (Roger), grandchildren Laura Tillack (James) of Leduc, AB, Aimee Neaverson (Tom) of Glinton, England, Emily Smith of St. Andrews, NB, and Sarah Smith (Jordan) of Vancouver, BC, William, Dorothy and Joanna and several great-grandchildren: Kailey, Savannah, Kori, Kade, Brooke, Melody, Jalen, Rylen.

Margaret’s time there feel like home with their care, compassion, and patience.

 

    A joint memorial service to celebrate the lives of Margaret & Frank will be held on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024 at 11:00 am; in the chapel of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506 – 466 – 3110). Archdeacon John Matheson officiating.
