Obituary of Hazen F. Grant
GRANT HAZEN F. – After a brief illness, the family announces his peaceful passing, at Charlotte County Hospital on Thursday, May 16th, 2024. Hazen Frederick Grant, husband of Nancy Gillis-Grant of Dufferin, NB. Predeceased by wife of 48 years, Jeanette (Dickinson) Grant. Born July 14, 1938 in Blackland, NB; he is the son of the late Lester & Clara (Savoy) Grant.
A carpenter by trade, Hazen’s career was the family business, L.M. Grant & Sons Ltd., which is well known for building houses and other buildings throughout the local area. Hazen enjoyed hockey and baseball and spent many seasons coaching, refereeing and being an umpire. His hobby farm was his passion and showed his love of horses, tractors, and farm fresh eggs. Other pastimes included bowling, square dancing and stock cars. Hazen and Nancy greatly enjoyed travelling and playing BINGO together. He loved social time with family and friends and watching the wildlife in his backyard, with his faithful companion Chewy by his side.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Nancy, are his children:Peter Grant (Patricia Reid), Ronald Grant(Charlene), Barbara Reid (Kenneth), and Roxanne Grant, step-children: Theresa Brown (Dennis), Rod Tirrell Sr.(Amanda), Lucas Tirrell (Melissa), Allyson Parks and Freddy Miranda (Kelly), grandchildren: Daniel Grant(Robin), Bradley Grant (Alyssa), Jeremy Minter (Erica), Daphne Grant (John), Ashley Barter (Adam), Courtney Grant, Meagan Colpitts–Grover (Jennifer), Andrew Reid(Natasha), Daniel Reid (Nicole), Alexander Reid (Amy), step-grandchildren Alaina Willson (Jeremy), Rod TirrellIII, Brittany Occhiogrosso (Jon), Faith Tirrell, Thomas Tirrell, Lucas Tirrell Jr. (Nichole), Shay–Lynn Tirrell, Avaleen Tirrell, Hope Parks, John Parks, Noel Gillis, several great grandchildren, sister Pauline Murphy (Russ), brother Gerald (Jeannine) Grant, extended family and special friends.
Hazen was predeceased by sisters Florence Dickerson, Eileen Belyea, baby Hester Grant, brother Horace “Brud” Grant and mother-in-law Rhoda Dickinson.
By Hazen’s request, cremation will take place. Visitation at the funeral home will be held from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 at Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB (506–466–3110). A service of memory and celebration of his life will follow at3:00pm in the chapel. A reception will be held immediately after the service in the Humphreys Funeral Home reception centre. Interment will be held at Old Ridge Cemetery.
