Obituary of Lloyd Gerard Deugaw


At the Grand Manan Hospital on Thursday, April 18th, 2024; Lloyd (Gerard) “Gery” Deugaw; husband of Estelle “Esty” (Conrad) Deugaw of Grand Manan, NB. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. U.S.A.; he is the son of the late Lloyd & Helen Deugaw.

Gery was a graduate of Catholic University in Washington, D.C, studying to be a catholic priest, then enlisted into the United States Armed Forces in 1961, a graduate of Army Language School & officers candidate training, serving as a 1st Lt in Ft. Devens Mass. He was discharged in May of 1969.

For many years after Gery worked in industrial construction specializing in the field of refractories.

As a young boy Gery travelled the world with his parents, of course, being an army brat himself; he saw and lived in many places.

Gery studied abroad; he parachuted the skies and scuba dived the oceans before settling down and retiring to Grand Manan in 1999. Gery loved “nature”, island life and its’ people, the island market on Saturday, poetry, music, history, art, and dogs.

Surviving in addition to his wife Esty” are his daughters Veronica “Roni” of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Deidre “Deedee” of Georgetown, Texas, Victoria “Vickie" Wood of Napa, California and Wendy Weaver of Allentown, Pennsylvania, 6 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren.

 Gery is predeceased by his son Christopher.

By Gery’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation will take place.
