  The Milltown Legend

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Paul Reed Haley, unexpectedly at his home in Milltown, New Brunswick April 18, 2024.

He was born at Chipman Memorial Hospital in St. Stephen, NB on November 15, 1953. He was the son of the late George and Nina Marie (Glass) Haley.

Known to all of his friends as Reed, he put his communication skills to work in a variety of positions, including many years as an educator and writer/photographer. He was well known in the community as a coach and mentor, combining his love of sports and working with young people. Reed was passionate about tennis, and could often be seen at the Milltown courts with Herb Duplissea, with whom he battled for almost 60 years. The duo put on clinics for area youth, promoting and expanding the love of tennis in the area. When he wasn't on the tennis court, Reed could often be found watching sports, engaging in a lively debate, or working on a crossword puzzle. Reed was also an active driver for Charlotte County Dial-A-Ride, and an enthusiastic member of the St Croix Theater Co., acting in several productions.

Reed is survived by his daughter Emily Haley (Bill Euloth), of St. Stephen, NB; son Nathaniel Haley of Las Vegas, NV; sister Sharon Lies of Memphis, TN, beloved grandchildren Morgan and Holly Euloth, and dog Blue who accompanied him almost everywhere.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Bill and Roger and sisters Mary Louise and Janet.

By Reed's request there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held at the St. Stephen Legion from 2-5pm on May 2nd. In lieu of flowers, donations to Charlotte County Dial-A-Ride, Volunteer Centre of Charlotte County/St. Stephen Food Bank (or a charity of one's choice) would be appreciated by the family.
