Obituary of Phylis Jean Nixon

Nixon, Phylis Jean

Passed peacefully on March 28, 2024, at the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrew’s, New Brunswick.

Born in St. Stephen she was the daughter of the late Albert and Florence Stevens.

Phylis is survived by her husband Donald Nixon who she married in 1965; children Eric Nixon (Sheri), Pam Nixon (Kevin Richards), Maureen Chaundy (David) and Steven Nixon (Melanie Wilson); grandchildren Jessica Dow (Miguel), Joshua Dow (Kendall), Michelle Chaundy, Andrew Chaundy, Rachel Nixon and Daniel Nixon; great-grandchildren Aliee, Oliver, Nevaeh, Bowen, Alexander, Felicity, Zayden and Jayden; siblings Anita Hunter (Alan), June Kowalzyk (Richie) and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased in addition to her parents by her siblings Janice, Mary and Kenny.

Phylis’s greatest love was her deep faith, serving in her church for many years. She was creative, making beautiful flower gardens and knitting items for her family. Phylis was an avid reader who loved books; the Bible and history books were her favorite. She enjoyed listening to music, especially classical music, hymns and opera.

Phylis appreciated the quiet serenity of country life. For many years she had a keen interest in growing her own food, preserving and canning the produce harvested from the farm. She will be remembered by her nearby grandkids for having many games and toys for their entertainment when they visited.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff at the Passamaquoddy Lodge for their compassion and care for Phylis.

A graveside memorial will take place at the Rollingdam United Cemetery (374 Rollingdam Rd, Rollingdam, NB E5A 2T5) at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday May 4, 2024.

For those who wish, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
