Obituary of Vernon Roland Vincent Vennell

VENNELL VERNON R. – Peacefully at his residence on Campobello, NB; on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, Vernon Roland Vennell; husband of Audrey Vennell.
Born in Campobello; he is the son of the late James & Marguerite (Newman) Vennell.
Vernon worked for over 43 years at Har-Conn Chrome Company in West Hartford, Connecticut. After his retirement, he and Audrey moved back to Campobello Island in Canada, where he enjoyed gardening and working on cars. He was an active member and trustee at Ridge Baptist Church in Lubec, Maine, and invited many guest speakers and visiting groups into his home over the years. He could often be found sitting at the kitchen table reading his Bible.
Vernon will be remembered by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for his strong work ethic, the wealth of old songs he sang to them regularly, and for taking them on long walks to nowhere in particular. He also taught them that ginger ale and Vicks would cure any ailment
Surviving besides his wife Audrey are his children Ronald (Betsy), Laurie Brackett (Scott), Carolyn Kurrus (Scott) and Chuck (Anita), grandchildren; Robyn, Ryan, Candice, Sarah, David, Lucas, Victoria, Micaela, Elisa, Katie, Laurie, Susan, Gary, John, Scott, Carolyn, Jordan, & Stephen, 37 great-grandchildren, and his sisters Betty Joyce (BJ), Marcella, Karen and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Vernon was predeceased in addition to his parents by his grandson Daniel, siblings Ronald, Anna and Brenda.
Resting at North Road Baptist Church, Welshpool, Campobello, NB from where the family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Friday, March 15th from 5:00-7:00 PM AST.
The funeral service officiated by Pastor Tony Muniz of South Somerville Baptist Church, South Somerville, Maine and Pastor Tom Genovese of Ridge Baptist Church, Lubec, Maine. in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday March 16th, 2024, at 2:00 pm AST at North Road Baptist Church.
