Obituary of Owen Wesley Ingalls Jr.
Ingalls Jr, Owen Wesley
After a lifetime of achievements and memories, Owen Ingalls Jr, son of the late Owen and Roberta (Wooster) let go the lines for the final time and set sail for Heaven.
Owen was an outstanding Christian and loved the Lord. He was a proud and dedicated member of the Seal Cove Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for many years, taught many kids in Sunday School and lead the Church in many other capacities. He was a pillar in his community of Seal Cove and served as councilor for many years and was always there to lend a hand when needed. Canada Day celebrations were his favorite and lead the way in many events.
Dad was extremely proud of his family and loved them to no end. Along with our mom, Merideth, they taught us the value of working hard and respecting others. Sundays were always set aside for Church and family dinners full of laughter and memories. Christmas breakfasts, bean suppers and trips to Three Island, Millers Pond and Pats Cove will always be treasured by us all.
Left behind to carry on his legacy are Pastor Dave (Debbie), Bob (Muriel), Joe (Leola), Russ (Joan), Capt. Dan (Heidi), his beloved Sister Kay, and brother-in-law Ross. Grand Children Sara, Nathan, Nash, Laura, Greg, Patricia, Melissa, Wendy, Selinda, Scott, Theron, Christopher, Megan, Allyson, Hannah and Wes and serval great grandchildren. Thanks, Wen, for being there for him and us.
Owen was predeceased by his wife of 70 years Mae, our beloved sister Joan, and her husband Laurence. Brothers Howard, Henry, Jack, Walter and sisters Daisy and Jean.
Most people knew Junior for what he was, an outstanding fisherman and proud Grand Manner. Boy did he love to work. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do when it needed to be done. His love for the sea was passed down to us all. Although a trap full of lobsters or drags full of scallops put a huge smile on his face, nothing gave him greater joy in his work than a weir full of herring and a boat load of scales for Fisher and he lived that till his last breath.
Thanks for all the memories, Dad, we are forever grateful. Fair winds and following seas till we meet again.
Many thanks to the staff of the Grand Manan Hospital and especially the Grand Manan Nursing home for your great care and hard work that gave Dad another year of life and memories and we can’t thank you enough.
