Our condolences to Artje's family. We met Artje many years ago when we moved to Grand Manan and pastored the North Head and Castalia United Baptist Churches. Artje welcomed us warmly into her home and her heart. She was a delightful lady and so interesting to chat with. She always made us feel welcome and always treated us to some of her delicious baking. She certainly had the gift of hospitality and we so enjoyed being with her. During the time we were there, she gave us a gift of a beautiful set of glass bowls which we still have and which we still use to this day. She indeed was a special lady. We are sure heaven rejoiced when she arrived there. We know she will be missed by many. Please be assured of our prayers for you all. God bless you.

My condolences to you all. Artje will always hold a special place in my heart. It was 1996 and I was a new X-ray tech coming to work at the GM hospital. She opened her house to me and made sure I was comfy and always full. Her cooking was amazing and her stories and wit always made me laugh. Rest easy Artje, love Melissa xo

To Wayne and all of Arje's family:
We have many fond memories of Artje. After mum passed away, she often dropped off a fresh loaf of her famous homemade bread for Dad and she became a second mother to Cindy. Artje lived her Christian faith, humbly serving others with loving kindness, patience, understanding and compassion. We feel blessed to have known her as a true friend.
Our thoughts and prayers will remain with you all as you mourn her loss and celebrate the life she lived.
Dave and Gail (Brown) Steeves and Cindy Brown.

We met Artje (Gram) through Quincy Hall, one of her great grandchildren while on a visit to Grand Manan in the summer of 2020. She still lived at home then and was so delighted to see us, and especially loved meeting my girls, Ella and Abby. She also loved showing us her home and flower outside. Although it was difficult for her to communicate she was very kind and happy we visited. It will be a memory we cherish and we are thankful to have met her. We send condolences to the family, and are thinking of you all at this difficult time.

Wayne,Judi and family,
I was sad to hear of Artje’s death. We made a connection
when I worked at the Grand Manan hospital for a couple of summers as a student nurse.
Anytime we saw one another after that it was as if time hadn’t passed and we would have a great chat.
I was well fed those summers at the hospital and would be a few pounds heavier heading into fall. She made
everything taste so good!
Her presence will certainly be missed by many.
Sending some prayers and sincere sympathy to you all.

Artje was a strong, independent, hospitable lady. We often visited her on our trips to GM. She was so proud of each one in her family and she loved to hear news of them. She delivered her homemade bread for us to devour and we sampled her gin-soaked raisins, which she claimed cured her aches and pains. She always greeted us with a smile and made us feel at home. We will miss her.

Artje was a great woman of Faith and we were glad of her presence with us these many years at North Head Baptist Church. She was an inspiration to many and was always happy to see each one and would greet everyone with her amazing smile. When we first moved to Grand Manan 10 years ago she was very generous, and loving, and a mighty Prayer Partner - Praise God for this wonderful servant of the Lord who loved her family, her friends, her church, this community, this island - We will be keeping you, her family in prayer as you deal with her passing - Pastor David and Susan Phillips

To all Artje's family. We are sorry for her passing but so very thankful for knowing her. She was a great neighbour to Julie, always enjoyed the kids coming and going. She was the sweetest church member, always smiling and always helping. Loved sitting in her cozy kitchen for a visit and loved the flowers she shared from her garden. Will think of her often and know she's having loving reunions in her heavenly home. Sincerest sympathy David and Angela
