Obituary of Garrie W. Lambert

Warrant Officer (Retired) Garrie Wansworth Lambert

April 29, 1950- September 1, 2023

Our hearts are broken to announce the sudden death of Garrie Lambert (Mr. Wonderful) of Saint George, NB.

Garrie was born in Come-By-Chance, Newfoundand, the son of the Late Arthur and Myrtle Lambert. He grew up in Clifton, Trinity Bay, NL and anyone who knew him, knows he was a proud Newfoundlander.

Garrie was the husband of Marnaca (Marney) Lambert.  She certainly knew that he was an answer to prayer and a Gift from God. She never took it for granted how blessed she was to be his wife.

Garrie, was first of all a genuinely good person.  He loved God, His country and music.

He served his country for 32 years in the Canadian Army ( Royal Canadian Armoured Corps). He had tours of duty in Germany, Egypt and Cyprus.  His decorations were CD2, UNEF2, UNFICYP2, NATO and Peacekeeping. His military family has remained an important part of his and Marney’s lives.

Garrie loved singing and playing guitar (everywhere).  It was one of his greatest pleasures.   You could find him Wednesday nights playing as part of the group Running Out of Time.  Recently he started playing with the Jammers for Jesus, which he often said was blessing and honour to be part of such a ministry.  He played Sunday mornings at St. George Baptist Church and Sunday nights at Sea View Full Gospel Church in Back Bay. Garrie played for many Benefits and never turned anyone down.

Garrie’s music family extended to Florida where he played for 10 years.  He often said how blessed we were to have met so many wonderful friends through music.

Besides his wife; Garrie is survived by two sisters, Linda Wiseman, NL and Effie Dean, ON; two biological sons, Michael and Stephen Lambert, BC; step-children Jackie Smith, NB  Albert Smith, NB (children of his pre-deceased wife Gail(Smith) Lambert); Erica (Chris) Brewer, AB. Four Step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Gail and his parents, Garrie was predeceased by his brother Bill.

As per Garrie’s wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral. There will be a Celebration of Life, Thursday, Sept 7, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the St. George Legion, 4 New St., St. George, NB.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

Arrangements by Humphreys Funeral Home, St. Stephen, NB
