Hearing the news of Elaine passing, was like hearing it was a family member. Our family were friends with the Granvilles prior to moving to Queensway. It was Dick and Elaine, that told my parents that the Balkam house was coming up for sale. They purchased 51 Queensway home in 1965. Tanis, Shawnee and I grew up in wonderful neighbourhood. Dick, Elaine, Mike and Judy were wonderful people and neighbours. Elaine and Mom (Irene) spent many hours going back forth for a kitchen visit, bridge, cocktails. It is because of Granvilles, Trainors and other neighbours. That my sisters and I, have a strong sense of community and being a good neighbour. Elaine will be missed by all her family and many friends.
Our thoughts are with Judy and Mike and families.

In addition to being a great mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, hostess and bridge player, Elaine was a wonderful neighbour and friend. She and Dick (along with Bill and Irene Watters) were among the first to welcome us to their part of Queensway almost 40 years ago. They provided us with the history of our home and guidelines for the neighbourhood as well as lovely vegetables from their garden. After Dick passed and she sold the house, we saw her less frequently but whenever we met, she'd smile and ask how things were in 'the old neighbourhood'. May family members find peace and comfort in one another, faith, friends and warm memories of Elaine.

Elaine! A truly wonderful woman, who enjoyed life to the nth degree. I loved playing bridge with her, spending time at The Golf Course with her.
Brian and I send our sincere condolences to you, her family, and The Community for such a great loss.

Condolences! Wow 98! I was wondering where she was. I used to see her walking behind the hospital. Gave her the dickens one time for walking back there in the winter! Such a beautiful lady, always with a big smile. One of the good ones! Mary & Norman Blackburn

So glad she was able to get down for that last visit, Judy. We so enjoyed seeing her and really thought she might get back for that glass of cheer. That crowd is all together again and I’m sure a Cocktail party is in the works, and Bridge Club is no doubt resuming. So many wonderful memories of both your parents.
Our sympathies on your profound loss, Mike, Ann, Judy & Norman. Rest easy, Elaine.

I’m so sorry to hear about Elaine❤️all of the memories that come flooding back about the Bridge Club. The Granville, Smythe, Francis and Mitchell kids, Lorraine Day, the Andrew’s boys we were all raised by the Bridge Club. Then there was twilight league, cocktail parties, trips to FL, boating on the ST Croix and most vividly Christmas night at Pete & Helens! I hope the poker club and Tuesday night Bridge club is back in swing again❤️they definitely knew how to party! RIP Elaine❤️

Dear Mike, Judy, Ann and family members.
John and I are sending our sympathies.
Elaine..was a treasure, God gave the world.
One of a kind❤️
She is likely either laying in the sun, or kicking her heels up to a great song.
For that, I’m happy for her.
May she rest in peace
