Obituary of Paul D. Casey
CASEY, PAUL DEAN - 72, passed away, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Maine General Hospital in Augusta, Maine. He was born May 1st, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Stephen Henry Casey Jr. and Grace Pauline (Cook) Casey; the middle son of their three boys. After high school Paul joined the Unites States Navy. He served in Vietnam earning the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with bronze star, Navy Commendation Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Battle “E.” Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Gold Wreath Award for Excellence in Recruiting. While in the Navy, Paul met and married his first wife Lorraine and started a family. The Navy gave them the opportunity to travel and see much of the United States. When it came time to retire, Paul moved his family back to Maine. He had been stationed in Maine before he found a love for the area and settled down in Lubec in 1984. He worked with Stanley Sheldon doing construction, Eric’s Hardware, Head of Maintenance at the Oceanview Nursing Home, and then on the island as the owner of Paul’s Variety. Providing that service to the community of Campobello Island was the one job he enjoyed the most. Whether it was stocking shelves or making special deliveries, he found joy in that store. He retired from the store and was able to travel again, something he always enjoyed. He was predeceased by his parents Stephen and Grace Pauline Casey, his granddaughter Margaret Mary Casey, and his first wife Lorraine Casey. He is survived by his second wife Vanessa Malloch of Campobello Island, NB, his brothers David Casey of Suisun City, CA, and Mark Casey of Dallas, TX, his children: Mary Greene and her husband Scott of Lubec, ME, Stephen Casey and his wife Dawn Marie of Hampden, ME, Margaret Casey and her partner Tim of Lubec, ME, Amanda Henderson Matthews and her husband Harvey of Campobello Island, NB, and Jeremy Henderson of Campobello Island, NB, his grandchildren: Daniel, Alisha, Paul, Rebecca, Jonathan, Logan, Laura, Aidan, Kolby, Graclynn, Isabella, and Chloe. Also, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was also a Mason, so in lieu of flowers the family would like to request any donations be made to the Lubec Masons, Washington Lodge # 37. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street St Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506 – 466 – 3110) On line condolences to the family or donations can be made at www.humphreysfh.com A cremation has taken place followed by a celebration of his life to take place on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm US time (3:00 pm Canadian time) to be held at the American Legion Post #65, 498 County Road, , Lubec, ME 04652
