Rhoda Palmer! What a woman!
She was one of the smartest and most tolerant people I ever met Rhoda had a natural curiosity about the world. She was widely read. She could completely finish a long book on the Treaty of Versailles in three days and discuss it with you for hours. I never found any music she didn't already know about. I gave her a huge bunch of opera and classical music and she could name them all after ten seconds of play. Folk and Country Western-Willie Nelson never had a more devoted fan. Rhoda had a great knowledge of musicals and soundtracks. Rhoda knew art inside and out.
Rhoda had a great knowledge of famous quotations. She had one for anyone who was getting married, "Don't lose the "I" in the"We". Rhoda loved jokes. Rhoda dressed like a Parisian model and knew exactly what good clothes were.
Rhoda loved picnics.
She was easy to love,
Bev and Bernice Lawrence

John, while it was sad to read of your mothers passing she certainly enjoyed a long life, most certainly a reward for the lovely person that I remember her to be. To you, Susan,Peter and all your families my condolences at this time of sadness.

I think all of Rhoda's family have 'bragging rights' about her. I was always ready to boast about my Aunt Rhoda -who usually had 2 books on the go at one time. I wish I had learned to play bridge just so I could have watched her skill -and her skill at socializing! She was always 'dressed to the nines': classy would sum it up: hair, ear rings, outfits.I loved her hearty laugh-I can almost hear it now. I appreciated her sense of color and design-as she arranged her home and the cottage. I inherited my love of dishes from her and my mum.Although there was 12 years difference between my mum and Rhoda they were very close and especially loved their time together at the Lake. My brother remembers she made a 'mean lasagna' and other goodies. She was smart, funny, generous, kind. We are thankful that she always said how happy she was with the TLC the staff at Passamaquoddy Lodge provided. We'll miss you Rhoda.Love you.

Our family is so saddened to learn of Rhoda's passing. What a lovely lady! We enjoyed our many years together at Lake Utopia, where we had great chats and many fun bridge games. She especially loved to play bridge with Marc and Fraser. Have missed her these last few years at the Lake. Our Sincere Sympathy to all the family. Fraser, Shirley and Family.
