Cecil Bancroft

Obituary of Cecil Cyril Bancroft

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved brother and friend, Cecil Cyril Bancroft, on Sunday Oct. 30, 2022, at Lincourt Manor.

Born in Montreal, May 3, 1930, Cecil lived an adventurous life, living and working his way from Montreal to British Columbia, eventually retiring in St. Stephen in 1995.

Predeceased by his parents; Cyril G. Bancroft & Martha Rode, brother Ernest Frank Crete and Sister Eleanor Martha Crete.

He is survived by Sisters Joanie (Johnson) McIntyre and Kim Marion (Johnson) Cunningham, as well as extended family, and his closest companion, Kit the cat.

Cecil had a short career in professional boxing but worked most of his life in construction, as a heavy equipment operator.  He proudly talked often about ending his career as a crane operator in B.C.  He had a passion for singing, playing horseshoes and, of course, boxing.

Donations to support the Lincourt Manor Campaign Fund would be appreciated or the St. George Animal Shelter.

Special thanks to the Staff of Lincourt Manor for their love, care and support toward Cecil.

A graveside celebration of life will be held Thursday, November 3rd, 2022 at 4:00pm at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Humphreys Funeral Home (20 Marks St. St. Stephen NB E3L 2B2). On line condolences to the family or donations can be made at www.humphreysfh.com
