Dear Jeff and Family
My heartfult condolences for your loss of Ardeth.
Ardeth was one of kind. Ardeth was one of the first persons I met in Saint Andrews when we moved from Toronto. I purchased many things from Ardeth's magnificent merchandised and appointed store called Hollyhock and Vine. I cherish those purchases even today.
Ardeth also provided many wise words and kindness along my journey in Saint Andrews. I also loved the joyful parties hosted at your home. Your generousity was outstanding.
I wish you blessing and much peace as you grieve a wonderful woman.
I am very grateful that Ardeth was part of my experience in Saint Andrews. She made my world a better place.
Warmly
Kim Cookson (formerly Imrie)

Dear Jeff,
I want to add my heartfelt condolences as well. I’m sure Ardeth inspired more people than she was ever aware of. I also recall her being at the Sea Captain’s Loft and later her own store, Hollyhock and Vine. In fact, I still have a box from that shop. It’s strange that I wouldn’t want to part with it, but in some ways it’s a tangible memory of those former glory days. I was so impressed that Ardeth had her own successful business. A couple of years ago, your house was on the Heritage Tour. Ardeth, ill at the time, welcomed everyone individually and took the time to exchange a few words. She was an impressive lady and, to use the common vernacular, a class act. So deeply sorry for your loss.

Jeff, I am so sorry to hear of Ardeth's passing; I know she had been ill for some time. I recall your early years together when we shared the apartment on Water Street in the mid-1970s, some very fond memories of that. I hope to be in St Andrew's in December and will stop in for a visit. Again my sincere condolences,

My heartfelt condolences to Jeff and Janet and all who knew her well. Ardeth was an amazing person--competent, energetic, spiritual, positive, a thinker and a doer. I first met her when we were working in the Sea Captain's Loft gift shop at the Algonquin Hotel and sharing a room. From then on, our friendship blossomed and I have many good memories. We were always in touch but I haven't seen her for some time because of the distance. Despite this, I think we still felt close with the communication that we did have. Ardeth will leave a huge empty space in this world and I think a lasting impression on those she cared for.

Jeff and Ardeth welcomed my late wife and I to St Andrew’s in 2002. I can still remember Ardeth giving me 2 important pieces of advice. 1 You now live in a small town - be careful who you criticize as almost everyone knows each other and it will get back to you and 2 stop and let people cross on Water Street even if they aren’t in a crosswalk. I believe Ardeth lived by these 2 rules as well as many other acts of kindness. She will be missed. My deepest condolences to Jeff.

Our condolences to Jeff, Janet, and Blaine,
Ardeth, whenever we were home your welcome mat was extended to come and visit. We enjoyed our visits, getting caught up on family news, and hearing about what you were involved in. One of the best memories was our picnic at Grammie and Grampie Emerson’s farmhouse. On that day we had Audrey, Janet, Ardeth, Marlene, Teresa and her family, and Donna. Of course, being an Emerson picnic, it goes without saying the food was awesome. The best of all was the tour of the farmhouse and Audrey sharing stories of life on the farm! We cousins reliving the fun that we had picking blueberries and corn. Who could forget Buster, Grampie’s dog! Just so many wonderful stories relived on that day full with love and laughter. Ardeth, you fought a long and hard battle. Go now, Rest in Peace. We will miss you!
Love Always,
Your Mitchell and Sutherland Cousins

Dearest Jeff,
Your very special lady and wife Ardeth is now resting peacefully in His Arms. . .May you be comforted by His Presence. . .
With your help, Ardeth brought us all together for an unbelievable reunion in 2015! We will never forget her love and kindness, her perfect words in every e-mail message, and nothing greater than her love of our Lord!
Ardeth’s Soul Sister Joanna shared this quote with her and Soul Sister Patty in which Ardeth loved “handprint on my heart”. . .that is Ardeth!
"It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend:"
Blessings, Jim and Patty Emerson
