Obituary of Betty L. LaKing

LaKing Betty L. - Unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, December 12th, 2021; Betty Louise (Nixon) LaKing, wife of Maurice LaKing. Born in St. Stephen she is the daughter of the late Charles & Sarah (Cook) Nixon.

Betty was a great artist, her whole life from a child to later in life showing her talent with her beautiful cake creations. She was well known throughout the community for her beautiful cake baking and decorating for generations of people. While being a stay at home mom she had the enjoyment of babysitting children, which she loved just like they were her own. Betty was active in the Milltown/St.Stephen Lionettes for many years and also had many years of involvement with the Milltown Cubs and Scouts. Betty always loved to volunteer whenever she could and in Betty's later years you could always find her sitting in the sun with a good book or two while enjoying their many bird feeders. Betty was an avid dog and cat lover which brought her great enjoyment right up until her passing when they adopted a cat which brought her great comfort while she was ill. Betty was a lady of great class and you would never find her outside of the house without being dressed to the nines for any occasion.  Betty's smile lit up any room she entered. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother that touched the hearts of so many of the people over the years. Whether it was thru the church, the gym, volunteering with one of her many groups, she left a lasting memory with everyone she met and will be truly missed by all.

Surviving additional to her husband Maurice are her son Jay (Julianne) LaKing of Valley Road, NB, brothers Larry (Nancy) Nixon Valley Road, NB and Millen (Laura) Nixon of Crocker Hill, NB, Grandchildren Nora LaKing, Austin Dow & Brynley Dow and their newly adopted cat Horacio.

By Betty's request there will be no visitation. Cremation will take place and a private memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at a later date in the Spring at the Rolling Dam United Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Lionettes of St. Stephen would be appreciated by the family.
