Obituary of Stanley J. Green

     Peacefully at the Grand Manan Nursing home on Friday February 9th, 2024, with his wife and daughter at his side; Stanley Green, husband of  Mary Green of Grand Manan, NB; son of the late Joseph and Mary Green of Seal Cove, Grand Manan.

      Stanley graduated from GMHS in 1951 and went away to tech school in Moncton and became a mechanic. Being a “Grand Mananer”, he came home after a couple of years and went fishing with his dad. He rejoined his trade, working for General Marine, and worked at the sardine factory in Seal Cove. Stanley loved to camp every spare minute, he enjoyed hunting fishing and his 4-wheeler while at camp. A devoted member at St. Paul’s Anglican, he served on the vestry and sang in the choir. Stanley was also a member of the Mananook Lodge #38 F. & A.M. and the Knights of Pythias.

       Surviving in addition to his wife Mary (Russell), are his son Derrick, daughter Vanessa Ritchie, son in law John, grandchildren; Kitchener Green (Halifax), Felicia MacLeod (PEI), David Green (PEI), great-grandchildren Hannah, Henry, Airelle (PEI), and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased in addition to his parents by his brothers; Austin, Malcolm, Sisters; Velda, Elsie, Leah, Glenna, and Olive.

     Cremation has taken place, family and friends are invited to attend a Masonic Service in honour of Stanley at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (3 Ingalls Head Rd, Grand Manan, NB E5G 3G3) at a later date in the spring with time and date to be announced. Burial of ashes to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

      Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Phillip Ells Jr. Memorial Funeral Center, a service of Humphrey’s Funeral Home, St. Stephen, NB.
