Obituary of Arlene Welch

Estella Arlene Heckbert McCosh Welch (Arlene) died peacefully in her 91th year, surrounded by her entire family on January 24th, 2015 at Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews N.B. Arlene was born in Chatham N.B. on September 8th 1924 to Flossie Belle and Dudley McCosh. She was the second oldest of five beautiful daughters. Arlene attended Mount Allison Commercial College but not before briefly serving with the Woman’s Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRENS) as a dental assistant in training. She met the love of her life, Ralph, at Mount Allison University and was happily married for almost 64 years. Arlene was a devoted wife and mother, volunteer, church supporter, and a gentle soul. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents Flossie Belle (Heckbert) McCosh and Dudley (Dud) McCosh, her eldest sister Shirley and her youngest sister Mary Lou (Mimi). She is survived by her loving sisters, Joyce Lutes of Campbellton N.B. and Jacqueline Powell of Owen Sound Ont. She is also survived by her husband Ralph, son Stephen (Beany Peterson) Welch (Que.) grandsons Andrew (Ont.) and Patrick (Que.), David (Sandra) Welch (N.B.) and only granddaughter Amelia; Catherine (Philip Williams) Marriott (Ont.) and grandsons Sam and Jack as well as loving nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Jane Doull at the Wesley United Church, 77 William St. St Andrews, on January 30th, 2015 at 11:00 am immediately followed by a reception at The Royal Canadian Legion, 270 Queen St. St. Andrews. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Volunteer Centre of Charlotte County (food bank), Arlene’s favourite charity.
