Obituary of Alma McCaffrey
McCaffrey Mary Alma - at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing, in Saint John, NB on November 19th, 2013; Mary Alma a.k.a. “Butch” (Arsenault) McCaffrey, formerly of Rose Street, St Stephen, NB, wife of the late Philip McCaffrey. Born in Egmonnt Bay, P.E.I. November 28, 1924she was the daughter of the late Andrew & Leonide Arsenault. A veteran of World War ll Alma served with the CWAC (Canada Womens Army Corp)as Lance Corporal, enlisting in 1942 until 1945. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion St Croix Branch #9 St. Stephen Ladies Auxillary. She was also Past President of the Auxillary. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church and an active member of the choir. Alma was a member of the Dancing Grandma’s. Alma is survived by her children Sharon “Siddy” Cole (Harry) of Moncton, Patrick McCaffrey (Sharron) of Saint John, Burton McCaffrey (Dawn) of Halifax, NS, Shelley Gauthier (Dan) of Saint John, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 4 brothers, Alfred Arsenault (Elva) of PEI, Emile Arsenault of Montreal, PQ, Raymond Arsenault (Betty) of PEI, and Marie Hebert of Rexton, NB, Julia LaClair of PEI, many special nieces and nephews. Alma was predeceased by brothers Joseph, & Albin, sisters Sally & Aline. Resting at Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506 … 466 … 3110) from where the visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 7 … 9 pm and on Friday from 11:00 am … 1:00 pm. A tribute to a Veteran service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:00 pm Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, St Stephen at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 22nd, 2013. A reception will immediately follow at the RCL St Croix Branch # 9 Queen St, St Stephen. Cremation will take place followed by the interment at the Cedar Hill Field of Honour, West Saint John, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the NB Lung Association or to the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
