Obituary of Sheldon Mitchell
Sheldon "Buddy" Mitchell passed away unexpectedly at the Down East Community Hospital in Machias Maine, USA, on Sunday June 30th, 2013. Sheldon “Buddy” Mitchell of Campobello, NB husband of the late Mary Rosamond (Daggett) Mitchell was born on Campobello Island, son of the late Horace and Alda (Hooper) Mitchell. Buddy grew up fishing with his father and father-in-law. He was in the Royal Canadian Air Force for three years joining at age 19. Buddy was a Fisheries Officer with Federal Fisheries and Oceans retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Campobello Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years and a member of North Road Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons Craig (Sherry) and Dennis, all of Campobello, NB, two sisters Geraldine Westrup of Campobello, and Dianne Kuenzl (Gerhard) of Mississauga, ON, one sister-in-law Beverly Robbins and husband Wallace of Brewer, ME, four grandchildren Ryan, Stefan, Rebecca and Jaden, one great grandson Kale, special cousin Lois Calder, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister Shirley Masuda and one brother-in-law Brian Westrup. Resting at North Road Baptist Church from where the service will be held on Friday, July 5th, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dana Mersereau officiating. The interment will follow in North Road Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation at the church on Thursday evening only from 7 - 9 pm.
