Obituary of Dianne Barker
Barker M. Dianne … At the Charlotte County Hospital,on Friday, March 22nd,2013; Madeline Dianne (Locke) Barker, wife of Earl Lee Barker of St.Stephen, NB. Born in Grand Manan,NB, she is the daughter of the late John Wellington & Letitia Elaine (Clift) Locke. In 1958 Dianne began her 3 year R.N. degree program at the Charlotte County Hospital where she graduated as class valedictorian. She went on to obtain a post-graduate diploma in obstetrical nursing from St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto, followed by a bachelor of nursing degree from U.N.B. Dianne was instrumental in establishing the Hospice of Charlotte program and worked in extra mural nursing. During the latter part of her career she was the director of nursing at C.C.H. Dianne excelled in her chosen profession and retired having gained the upmost respect from both staff and patients alike. Dianne was an active long-time member of Christ Church in Saint Stephen. While Dianne did not seek out public or professional attention the fact remains that ‘A light that is put on a hill cannot be hid.’ Dianne will be greatly missed, for that light has now gone out. Surviving in addition to her husband Earl are her children John of St. Stephen, NB, and Katrina Barker-Pater (Tim) of Kingston, ON, one granddaughter Harper Dianne of Kingston, ON, brother Michael (Arlene) of Sussex, NB, sister Lorie Jenner … MacNutt (Trent) of Chester, NS, nieces, nephews and cousins. Resting at Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB, E3L 2B2(506 - 466 - 3110)from where the visitation will be held on Wednesday March 27th from 2-4 & 7-9. The funeral service in celebration of Dianne’s life will be held on Thursday March 28th, at Christ Church St Stephen at 2:00pm. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations to The Anglican Parish of St Stephen would be appreciated by the family. Condolences to the family or donations may be made online or at Humphrey’s Funeral Home.
