Obituary of Pauline Miller

MILLER, PAULINE - of St. Andrews, NB, passed away quietly at her home on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Born in Campobello Island on October 10, 1919, she was the wife of 63 years of the late George Hugh Miller Sr, the daughter of the late Carroll and Lena Mitchell and the sister of Burnham and the sister … in … law of Barbara Mitchell. Pauline lived a long life filled with great joy not only through her close family ties but also by the numerous multigenerational friends that she encountered in the Maritimes, Montreal, and Waterloo, Ontario. Like many others of her generation, she left New Brunswick when she was accepted to go in training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. Although she discontinued her nursing practice to bring up her family, she kept strong community ties through volunteer work and the United Church. She was keenly interested in people and their evolution in a changing world over the 93 years she was with us. As a true “Maritimer” she and her family returned to New Brunswick every summer so it was natural for her to settle in Saint Andrews at retirement. She is caringly remembered by her family, Hugh and Judith (Waterloo, Ontario), Carolyn and Jacques(Cannes France), Ian and Lisa(Ottawa), Bruce and Becky(Oakville), Manuel GUMBAU (Cannes). She became”GG” at the birth of her great grandchildren Ella and Devyn(Ottawa) and McKayla and Spencer(Oakville). She never forgot her origins and is lovingly remembered by the large and wonderful Mitchell Family (Stuart, Blake, Scott, Kevin, Gregory and families). The funeral will be held on Saturday, February, 16th, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Wesley United Church, in St. Andrews. Rev. Jane Doull officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. The family will receive friends at the church during a time of visitation on Friday from 2 … 4 pm. The interment will take place at a later date in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews or the Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
