Obituary
Obituary of Margaret Catherine Dickson
It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Catherine Dickson (Peggy) announce the passing of their cherished Mother and Grandmother. Peggy was born in Scotland on July 4, 1920 and died at Passamaquoddy Lodge on January 10, 2013 having lived for 68 years in St. Andrews. Our Mother was pre-deceased by her husband, Addison Clayton Dickson and her son, Michael Kevin Dickson and her son-in-law, Roger Cooney but is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Dickson Cooney and son Jimmy Dickson as well as three grand-children, William Cooney, Kathleen Cooney Elvins and D'Arcy Cooney and one Great Grand-son, Liam Elvins and only one nephew in Canada, Clayton Dickson. Peggy had the distinction of being one of the first War-Brides to arrive in Charlotte County in 1945, having married her husband, Addison in Scotland while he was serving his country in 1944. After her husband's death she had the option of returning to her home-land or residing with her daughter in Toronto, but insisted on staying in the little town she and her husband loved so much. Peggy died at the Passamaquoddy Lodge, watched over by the dedicated and caring nurses and staff who cared for and loved her over the past two years. Even though she was blind and deaf she was always grateful for the kindness they bestowed upon her. Peggy loved her family and her Church and has now gone to a better place where she can now see the faces of her loved ones and hear their voices. Funeral arrangements will be conducted by Humphrey's Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street ,Stephen, NB E3L 2B2(506 … 466 … 3110) Though there will be no viewing there will be a Mass of Christian Burial in the Roman Catholic Church in St. Andrews officiated by Rev. Paul Doucet on Saturday, January 19th at 11:00 a.m. The interment will take place in the spring in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery. To the Doctors, Nurses and wonderful staff and administrators at the Passamaquoddy Lodge and to the Extraordinary Ministers from the Catholic Church who brought her communion at the Lodge and to Don Menton who brought her communion while confined to her home, the family is truly grateful. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
